| POKELIGHT FORUM RULES Note: These are the main site rules. Some sections may have their own set of rules, (Fan-Fiction, etc.). But remember, these rules always apply, even if we don't specifically mention it. GENERAL 1.) Do Not Spam Yes, everyone knows about good ol' SPAM. And I'm not talking about the spam you buy at your local supermarket. S.P.A.M stands for Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages. It's pretty self explanatory. Let's say that we have a topic about cheese and suddenly, you come in and post things like: That is the perfect example of spam. It has nothing to do with the topic, and is pretty much useless. If we see any of those around, then you will be warned. If you happen to come across a topic about hatching eggs, and you know nothing about that, don't post 'I don't know." This is also considered spam. If you don't know anything about the topic you're looking at, don't post! Multi-posting is an iffy subject. Most boards don't allow it, and for good reason. Technically, it falls under the category of spam. Here, we're more lenient on double posting, and will usually let it pass if you're updating an art thread, fan fiction, etc. If you're replying to a thread, you're encouraged to use the edit button. However, if the thread is inactive, and you don't think anyone will see your new post if you edit, you are allowed to double post to bump the topic. You are allowed bump a topic ever 48 hours, just don't go overboard. The only exception to the "No Spamming" rule is the Spam Section. There, you can spam all you want, we really don't care. We will delete some topics once in a while just so that the forum doesn't get cluttered. 2.) Treat every member with respect Flaming and insulting others is not allowed. You are expected to be respectful of your fellow members. Trolling is absolutely NOT permitted. I don't care how much you HATE Pikachu789! The only thing you'll gain from flaming and swearing at him is a warning point. Oh, and in case you didn't know what flaming was, it's this: Or, anything along those lines. Trolling is basically the same. 3.) No offensive content Excessive swearing is not tolerated. Posting of pornographic materials will result in an immediate and permanent ban. Enough said. 4.) Talking back Talking back to the staff members will not be tolerated, and will get you a warning. If this is continuous, then you will be banned. Also, do not question us if we give you a warning, etc. We know what we're doing, and we won't hesitate to give you a more severe punishment if we feel it is necessary. Now, if you feel that a certain staff member is picking on you for no reason, then by all means, contact an Administrator. 5.) Advertising Advertising is not allowed on Pokelight Forums in most forms. This is bottom line when it comes to advertising: Any external links, that link outside of PLF, that are posted are forbidden. There are slight exceptions though, and they are listed below. Here's a list of what we consider advertising and is not allowed:
6.) Illegal Material This is from the ZetaBoards Terms of Service. Since we are hosted by ZetaBoards, we must follow their ToS, this means that no prohibited content is allowed, period. Hikari and I are responsible for ensuring that no prohibited content is distributed or discussed. Illegal Material includes:
Please do not post, private message, or distribute any prohibited content. Period. Breaking this rule will land you a very severe punishment. Not only with PLF, but with ZetaBoards. For further information, please click here. Note: Discussion of emulation and hacking is allowed in the Emulation section. For more information, click here. 7.) Your Posts: Please make sure that you post in the right section. We're not the type of forum that rips your lungs out for posting in the wrong section. If you make a thread that is in the wrong forum, we will move it to the right section. Just don't make a habit of it. 8.) Asking to be Staff: PLEASE do not ask to be a Staff member! Not only is it annoying, but it will definitely not get you anywhere. We pick Staff members very carefully, and just like any job, you must qualify for it. Oh, and as a side note, this is not what we call 'qualified': That is called mini-modding, and will not be tolerated. For your first time, you will be given a verbal warning. If this happens consistently, then you will be warned. Do not reply to SPAM topics, simply report them and we'll take it from there. Note: is different from We're not saying that you can't tell the spammer that they're breaking the rules, just make sure you're not spamming too. Don't do it too often either. Remember, the best thing to do in these situations is to report it and just move on. A typical qualified member:
If you want to know more about the forum staff and how the member ranks work, click here. 10.) Smilies Yes, they are adorable, aren't they? But please don't put more than 20 of them in your post! No one wants to look at: [/b] I'm not asking you to count your every-single-last-Pikachu, just don't go overboard! We won't kill you if you accidentally put 21. 11.) Pinned Threads Also know as sticky threads, they are pinned so that they remain at the top of a forum at all times. Pinned threads are very important! Pinned threads usually contain FAQs for the forum and they will most likely answer your question if you have one. 12.) Name Changes Tired of your old username? Wish that you could just change it to something else? The name change feature lets you do just that! You aren't allowed to change your username more than once every two months. THIS APPLIES TO EVERYONE, INCLUDING STAFF. If this is your first name change, and you decide three weeks later that you don't like your new username and want to change it back, we'll probably let it slide. SIGNATURE RULES Animation Please don't put too many animated images in your signature! ![]() You may NOT:
If the image is not yours, give credit to the original author. This applies to anything. The staff does not tolerate art-theft. If you are caught, you will receive severe punishment without warning. There is an exception, if you got the image off a public website, you aren't obligated to give credit. Example: If you get a sprite of of PokémonElite2000, you wouldn't have to give credit. If you ever spot anyone who is 'stealing' someone else's image and claiming it as their own, PM a staff member! Image Size Limit 600*200 pixels is the limit for any image. We do understand that heights and widths may and will vary from computer to computer depending on resolution and such, so as long as your banner is similar to this size, we don't really care. ![]() Advertisement APPLIES TO ANY FORUM OR WEBSITE
There really isn't a set limit, just use common sense. If your signature makes your post look three times as big as an average post, then you should know that something is wrong. What is & What isn't Forum rules apply here, no sexual, racist, or prejudice material. Remember, when in doubt, post in the Signature Check thread! THE CHATBOX The Pokelight Chatbox has been around with us since January of 2009 and has been a place of great memories. The bonds that have been built amongst the members wouldn't exist without this chatbox, therefore it is an essential part of our community and will never be removed under any circumstances. There are a few rules that do need to be enforced though.
If you receive a message from another chatango user, that is an advertisement for another forum, please block that user and you are encouraged to PM Hollow Abyss, Tobi-ksla, or VoltTacklingPika with their username; we'll handle it appropriately. Current Chatbox Moderators:
Well, that's it! We've done our best to make sure that these rules aren't too strict. As long as you use common sense, you'll be fine ![]() Have fun! |
